Bon Vendredi!

Happy Friday!

We had great weather and a fantastic turnout for School Council’s Family Picnic on Wednesday evening. These final three weeks have plenty of learning activities as well as a few special events, too!

Our Patrollers enjoyed a well-earned fun field trip to Heritage Park on Thursday. We would like to thank all of our Grade 5 and 6 patrollers for their service this year, keeping our pedestrians safe on their way to and from school.

As we start to wrap up our year, we just have a few reminders for families:

  • Library books are coming due at the beginning of the month. Please round up any borrowed items and return to the Learning Commons at your next scheduled visit.
  • These are the days with cooler mornings and warmer afternoons, which means jackets sometimes come off when playing outside and don’t make it back inside. Please ask your child(ren) to check the lost and found for any missing items. We will be packing up and donating any leftover items on June 27. Make sure you have a good look for those missing hats, gloves, hoodies and jackets!
  • We would also like to remind families to check your MyCBE account for any outstanding fees to be paid and kindly ask that they are taken care of prior to the end of the school year.
  • For students staying at Chinook Park or moving to Woodman for grade seven next year, you do not need to do anything about registration. If your family has plans to change schools and you have not yet shared that with us, please call the office.

Swimming

We are looking forward to the next round of swimming from June 17-20 for the rest of the students. If you can volunteer, please join us at the pool!

Grade 6 Updates

Farewell

We will be hosting a farewell assembly on Monday, June 24th at 12:45 to celebrate their time at Chinook Park and wish them well as they transition to grade seven. Students will enjoy a lunch, assembly and fun activities organized by the parent committee in the afternoon. Families of Grade Six students only are invited to the assembly and afternoon festivities. Watch your email for further details.

We will be setting up and practicing for the assembly during the morning of June 24th. Please ensure that all grade six students participating in the assembly are also in attendance in the morning for the practice.

Farewell and Legacy Project – Last Day for Donut Orders!

Please help the Grade 6 class fundraise for their Farewell & Legacy Project by buying donuts. The last chance to place an order is tonight, orders close on Friday, June 7 at 11:59PM. Late orders are not accepted. The donuts will be given to your child in school on Wednesday, June 12 (timing of distribution during the school day is at our teachers’ discretion). They come packaged in individual boxes.

Kindergarten students are also able to participate in this event.

If you would like to place an order, please register your student(s) on the Healthy Hunger website at HealthyHunger using the attached information sheet.  Once you have completed your registration you will be able to view this event and the order form. Please note that the school to register for is "Chinook Park".

How to order Fun Lunch

The order form also provides the option of making an additional donation to the fundraiser if you wish to do so.

Thank you for supporting our Grade 6 students!

The Courtyard Gardening Committee is Seeking Volunteers.

After 2 years of working to revive the courtyard gardens, we are in the final steps to finish off our garden beds for the growing season. We have several big bags of soil and mulch that we would like to place in the garden before the end of June.

We are looking for volunteers to help us spread the soil and mulch on the evening of Thursday, June 13 and Wednesday, June 19 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  You do not need police security clearance.

Please sign up here https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090B4CAEAF28AAFD0-50002007-chinook  or just show up that evening with a shovel and gardening gloves!

Thank you!
