Bon Vendredi!

Happy Friday!

It has been another vibrant and exciting week at Chinook Park School! We were thrilled to welcome our Artist in Residence, Natalia, for her first two days with us. She spent time meeting students and exploring the vision for our upcoming art project, and the enthusiasm and curiosity from our learners has been wonderful to see.

Our Grade 4/5 French Immersion students took part in the Debunk the Junk challenge, while our Grade 5/6 students engaged in a creative art project in collaboration with Calgary Arts Development. We were also honoured to welcome author Kelly Kaur, who visited our school to read her book with our younger learners as part of Sikh Heritage Month, providing a meaningful and engaging learning experience.

It was a special milestone for our youngest students as two Kindergarten classes enjoyed their very first field trip to Bow Habitat, creating memorable early learning experiences outside the classroom.

A heartfelt thank you to our teachers and parent volunteers for their support and dedication in making all of these enriching activities possible. We truly appreciate your time and partnership.

Community Potluck Appreciation

We would like to extend a huge thank you to our school community for the incredible potluck lunch. The generosity and care that went into preparing and sharing such a wide variety of dishes was truly outstanding. The spread reflected the richness and diversity of our community, with so many delicious foods to enjoy—it was truly one of the best potlucks we’ve had. A special thank you to Amber and her team of volunteers for organizing, setting up, and bringing everything together so seamlessly. Your time, effort, and leadership made this wonderful community‑building event possible, and we are so grateful.

Chinook Park Art Update – Calling for Helping Hands!

We are excited to welcome our Artist in Residence, Natalia Ionescu, to Chinook Park School! As part of our creative journey, students will be collaborating on special art illustrations that will be used for their class acknowledgment of the land. Their ideas will also be used in a new school mural and community art piece.

To prepare the space, we need some help sanding and priming the mural. If you have experience, tools, or can lend a hand, we would truly appreciate your support. Work would ideally be completed after school, 2:45 - 4:00 pm. Please email Mme Danielle if you are able to help. Dagodbout@cbe.ab.ca

Any expert advice or volunteer help from families would be wonderful as we get ready for this exciting artistic transformation!
