We are grateful for all the parent volunteers who help support the school. Thank you to everyone who helped with the Casino this past week. We appreciate you!

This week was an exciting one for our grade 3 French Immersion students as they concluded their time capsule project with Dr. E.P. Scarlett School. Students had a tour of the High School, looked back at the work they did with their older buddies, and finally put their capsule together. When they are in grade 12, they will look back at the items they shared in the capsule.

Our students who ordered received their ECPS apparel this week. It was nice to see some of our students with the ECPS colors and logo!

Planning for Next year – School Enrollment Survey

As enrollment continues to change, so do the number of classes and our class configurations. Friday, your child should have brought home a survey in their backpack. This survey supports us in creating our class lists and in ensuring we have accurate enrollment counts for next year. Our enrollment data also serves in making staffing decisions. There are two questions on the form, and we ask that you return this form to your homeroom teacher by May 13. Please return a form for each child you have attending Chinook Park.

The form asks to indicate up to 3 peers with whom your child works well. These selections will be used in the class composition process for the following year. Parent/Student input into their next year homeroom is something we feel is important to student success. We want to ensure that every student has a friend in their class. Of the three peers, we will make a guarantee of ensuring each student is paired with at least ONE of their selections in their homeroom. We are also mindful that some friends are great playmates and not always suited best for learning.

We put a great deal of time and effort into creating our homerooms and there are many factors that go into this process. While very flexible in supporting almost all parental and student requests, we do not take teacher requests.

If you have a specific educational concern, please discuss this with the administration directly. Class lists and staffing assignments are not finalized until very late in August. Your child’s homeroom teacher will connect with you prior to the first day of school.

We are excited for our Spring Concert on May 2 at 6:00 pm. Please see the information below:

Wellness Day Change

Over the last few years, students have participated in a Wellness Day at the beginning of May. Due to some difficulties booking guests and finding spaces for activities, we are going to modify the event this year. Instead of a one-day event, we will be planning and implementing a variety of activities for June. Stay tuned for more information.

We would like to send a huge thank you to all of the volunteers who helped out at the Casino on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. We would also like to thank everyone who stepped in as a backup volunteer. The support of these volunteers will ensure that we have funds available in future years to continue to support learning enhancements for all students in the school.
