Another school year has begun. Welcome back, ECPS students and families! 

Et c’est parti pour une nouvelle année scolaire! Bienvenue aux élèves et aux familles d’ECPS! 

As we begin a new school year, we are pleased to share that the first week at École Chinook Park School was a great success. It has been wonderful to welcome both returning and new students into our learning community. 

The energy in our hallways, classrooms, and on the field has been positive and enthusiastic. Students have settled in quickly, renewed friendships have been rekindled, and new connections are already being made. We would also like to extend a warm welcome to the new members of our teaching staff who have joined the ECPS team this year. We are excited to have them as part of our school community. 

A heartfelt thank you goes to our incredible staff, who worked hard to prepare for a smooth and successful start to the year. Their dedication and care have helped make the transition back to school both positive and seamless for students. 

Thank you to our families for your ongoing support as we begin another school year. We look forward to working together to make this a successful year for all students. 

A reminder that there will be no school on Monday, September 7, in recognition of Labour Day. We hope you enjoy the long weekend with family and friends.

Drop off, Pick-up and Parking 

A huge thank you, un gros merci, to parents who are following our before and after school procedures!  

• Supervisors will be present on the field at 7:45. 
• A bell rings at 7:57 am for students to head to their designated entrance and classes will begin at 8:00 am. 
• No parking in the crosswalks or bus zone. 
• No student drop-offs/pick-ups in the staff parking lot. 
• School ends at 2:35 pm Monday-Thursday (12:01 pm Friday).  
• If you are running late and won’t make it in time for the bell at 7:57 am, please bring your child to the front office doors to check your child in and alleviate any attendance issues. 
• This heightened awareness will increase and ensure our students’ safety. We appreciate your support!

Chinook Park Values 

At École Chinook Park School, our shared values help guide how we learn, work, and grow together as a community. Developed with input from students, staff, and families, these values have been an important part of our school culture for the past two years. Throughout the school year, we revisit and explore different aspects of these values with students, helping them develop the skills and attitudes needed to be positive members of our school community. You will also notice that our school website is organized around these values, highlighting the many ways they support learning and belonging at ECPS.

Photo Day 

Photo day will be Monday, September 14^th, where families will have the opportunity to order their child's photo and class photo from LifeTouch. A form will be sent home the same day with ordering instructions. Retakes and any student who was absent will get retakes on October 22^nd. 

Brown Bag Lunches 

We are fortunate to have the community support of Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids (BB4CK), an organization providing nutritious lunches for families in need. If you would like your child to receive a daily lunch, please let Mrs. Robin know via email (rnhirst@cbe.ab.ca). 

Youth Musical Theater Canada 

We will be facilitating the Calgary’s upcoming Fall 2026 program auditions for "The Lost World" on Tuesday, September 22nd (lunch period) for Gr 5-6 students interested and who have returned the permission form sent home on Monday. Message from School Council 

School Council is hosting a welcome back picnic on Thursday, September 16 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm in the field outside the school. Bring a blanket and your own picnic and School Council will provide a cold treat for the kids. Siblings are welcome but please leave pets at home.  

We always need to fill a positions on School Council this year. If you are interested in volunteering, please email chinookparkchair@gmail.com  

Message from the Calgary Board of Education 

This fall, the CBE has hired hundreds of teachers, education assistants and other school staff to support student learning. These positions have been funded by the Government of Alberta with the intention of addressing classroom complexity and class sizes. 
 
We are pleased to welcome additional new staff to our school for the 2026-27 school year: Mme. Hadiza Mahaman 

We are very pleased to welcome this new staff member to our school community! This additional staff will help ensure students benefit from: 

• Increased teacher attention 
• Improved classroom learning environments 
• Greater support for diverse learning needs

Before and After School Care Opportunity 

The Imagination Tree Childcare Centre recently reached out to the school to share that they are exploring the possibility of expanding their Before and After School Care program to serve Chinook Park families. The program would include breakfast, transportation to and from school, an afternoon snack, and care on PD days. Families interested in learning more are encouraged to contact The Imagination Tree Childcare Centre directly for additional information.
