Bon Vendredi,
Happy Friday,
It was wonderful to welcome so many of you into the school for interviews last week. Thank you for taking the time to connect with teachers and engage in meaningful conversations about your child’s learning.
It was also great to see both familiar and new faces at our recent Parent Council meeting. Your participation and interest in reviewing this year’s budget and hearing updates about school initiatives are truly valued and help strengthen our school community.
With winter weather settling in, we kindly ask for extra patience and caution during drop-off and pick-up. Slower traffic and attentive driving help keep all students and families safe, and also support our student patrollers who are out there each morning doing an important job.
Lockdown practice
On Tuesday, our school completed a scheduled lockdown practice. We conduct two lockdown drills each year to ensure that students and staff know exactly what to do in the event of an emergency. Calgary Police Service joined us for the practice and shared very positive feedback, noting that our students and staff did an excellent job following procedures calmly and efficiently.
Winter Concert
ECPS’s winter concert will be held on Thursday, December 18th featuring our Kindergarten to Grade 3/4 English and Kindergarten to Grade 3 French classes.
It is our priority that Division 2 students participate in a concert, however with the disruptions this year, they require more time to learn instruments. They are currently learning the ukulele and handbells.
We will be hosting two evening concerts to be able to accommodate all our families at 5:30 and 6:45 pm. We will share next week which classes we participate in which concert.
Seating is at a premium; we ask that only TWO family members attend the evening show. Other family members are welcome to attend the daytime dress rehearsal.

Support our school and add a little excitement to the evening! Chinook Park Council is running a 50/50 raffle during the December 18 Winter Concert. Tickets are just $5 each, and one lucky winner will take home half the pot — the other half supports programs and initiatives for your child. There will be a draw at the end of each concert. Buy a ticket, boost our school, and you could walk away a winner!

School Development Plan: Year 2 of 3
Alberta Education requires each school to create a plan to improve student learning. Our School Development Plan (SDP) aligns Chinook Park School’s goals with the CBE Education Plan | 2024–2027. This is a three-year cycle, and we are currently in Year 2. Each year, schools capture evidence of continuous improvement toward these goals and share results with the community through an annual report.
This year, our SDP continues its focus on numeracy by intentionally designing learning environments and emphasizing discipline-specific vocabulary. The full plan is available on our school website, where you can also view the Data Story in the Student Results Report and the School’s Report on Fees.
Teacher appreciation
Dear Chinook Park Families,
As we head into the holiday season, we are putting together a Treat & Coffee Station on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 to show appreciation for our wonderful teachers and staff.
We warmly invite families to contribute by signing up to bring a home-baked or store-bought treat, or single-serve beverages (such as canned juice, individual canned sparkling drinks, or ice-tea etc.). All items will be dropped off on the morning of December 10, and our volunteer team will set everything up for staff to enjoy throughout the day.
Thank you for helping us make this appreciation event thoughtful and special. Your contributions mean so much!
