Bon Vendredi,

Happy Friday,

We had a constant stretch of snow this week, and students have been enjoying it during recess! A quick reminder that while snow forts are welcome, snowballs are not permitted for safety reasons. With the upcoming break bringing lots of excitement, M. Comeau and Mme Godbout have begun visiting classrooms to share a message about kindness, calm, and taking care of one another during this busy time of year. They will continue these visits next week. At École Chinook Park, we care deeply about creating a supportive and respectful community for all students.

Book Fair

Thank You to everyone who supported our Scholastic Book Fair last week. The winner of the Family Event Draw was Samyuktaa from Ms. Post’s classroom. She won $25.00 in books for her family and $25.00 in books for her classroom, congratulations! Once again we had a very successful Book Fair. We sold a total of $6900 and since we sold over $1500, we earned back 50% of our total which means $3450 worth of free books for the Library! Thank you for supporting this literary event! It is because of your support that our library continues to flourish.

THANK YOU AGAIN FOR SUPPORTING THE BOOK FAIR! Our next fair is in February 2026 and I will be looking forward to seeing you then.

-Ms. Angeline

Winter Concert

ECPS’s winter concert will be held on Thursday, December 18th featuring our Kindergarten to Grade 3/4 English and Kindergarten to Grade 3 French classes.

It is our priority that Div 2 students participate in a concert, however with the disruptions this year, they require more time to learn instruments. They are currently learning the ukulele and handbells.

We will be hosting two evening concerts to be able to accommodate all our families at 5:30 and 6:45 pm. We will share next week which classes we participate in which concert.

Seating is at a premium; we ask that only TWO family members attend the evening show. Other family members are welcome to attend the daytime dress rehearsal.

Support our school and add a little excitement to the evening!

Chinook Park Council is running a 50/50 raffle during the December 18 Winter Concert. Tickets are just $5 each, and one lucky winner will take home half the pot — the other half supports programs and initiatives for your child. There will be a draw at the end of each concert.

Buy a ticket, boost our school, and you could walk away a winner!

Grade 5/6 and 4-6 French Talent Sharing

December 8 to 12 during regular music class, Mrs. Poschtaman will be hosting "Talent Sharing Days".. Over the two 30-minute blocks, students will have the opportunity to share their talents—whether in music, art, sports, STEM, or other areas—with me and their classmates.

Because some talents are harder to demonstrate in the classroom, students are encouraged to email photos or videos ahead of their Music class next week to GrPoschtaman@cbe.ab.ca with the student’s name and class as the subject line.

For any live performances, it is important for students to be well-prepared. They should have rehearsed, practiced, and performed for someone at least a couple of times before presenting during Sharing Days, so that we can ensure a respectful and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

Holiday Food Drive

This holiday season our school is participating in the Calgary Food Bank – Mayor's 37th Annual Food Drive. From December 8 through December 18, we will be collecting nonperishable food items, as well as monetary donations (made directly online) for Calgary families.

Students may bring items to their classrooms or the entryway.

“An exciting event within the Mayor’s annual campaign is the Councilor's Challenge! The challenge is between each of the 14 Wards to raise funds and food for the Calgary Food Bank. By bringing together all Councilors and their Ward we are amplifying our voices and presenting a united front to support the community.”

Bus Delays

Families are encouraged to use the My School Bus Monitor app to track any bus delays, especially on cold winter mornings when routes may be running behind. This tool provides real-time updates to help you plan accordingly. You can access it at https://www.myschoolbusmonitor.ca/

2025-26 Demographic Verification Form

We still have a few families who have not yet completed the Demographic Verification Forms for the 2025–26 school year. These forms are important for ensuring we have accurate and up-to-date information for your child. Families can access and submit the form through their MyCBE account. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the office and we’ll be happy to help.

Teacher Appreciation

Dear Chinook Park Families,

As we head into the holiday season, we are putting together a Treat & Coffee Station on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 to show appreciation for our wonderful teachers and staff.

We warmly invite families to contribute by signing up to bring a home-baked or store-bought treat, or single-serve beverages (such as canned juice, individual canned sparkling drinks, or ice-tea etc.). All items will be dropped off on the morning of December 10, and our volunteer team will set everything up for staff to enjoy throughout the day.

Thank you for helping us make this appreciation event thoughtful and special. Your contributions mean so much!
