Bon Vendredi! Happy Friday!
What a dynamic week! We started with chilly temperatures but wrapped up with some much warmer weather. This week also marked the beginning of Wellness in Action and our Student Options! It was great to see students participating in a variety of activities, working with different groups in new spaces. A big thank you to Mme. Louise for volunteering her time to present to our younger learners and to teachers for thoughtfully preparing valuable learning experiences for our students!
We’re also happy to share that we’ve allocated additional funding to further support our students. Mme. Hannah, who joined us as an educational assistant in December, will be increasing her hours with us. She is able to support in both French and English. Ms. Charlene joined our team last Monday as an educational assistant practicum student. She is here to learn and will mainly be supporting our Grade 1-2 classes until Spring Break. We’re grateful for their dedication and the positive impact they’re having on our school community.
Family Dance - Postponed
Unfortunately, the Family Dance has been postponed to adhere with recent guidelines around facility use during CUPE local 40 Labor Action: You can find more information here.
We’re working to reschedule the dance for a date after Spring Break and will share the new details as soon as they’re finalized. Any tickets already purchased will automatically be applied to the new date. Thank you for your understanding and continued support!
Gymnastics
We are starting gymnastics in PE and this activity will continue for February and the first week of March for all classes.
For safety reasons, we ask that you help your child to dress appropriately for the activity.
- Comfortable bottoms which allow for easy movement. Leggings, tights (no feet) or sweatpants are ideal. Please avoid jeans or other pants with pockets, belt loops and zippers, as these items can catch on equipment.
- Hair. Please ensure long hair is tied back with an elastic.
- Jewelry. keep jewelry at home for February/March. Students will be asked to remove jewelry prior to participating in this activity.
Thank you for your support,
Chinook Park Teachers
Learn and Share – School Planning
We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. That’s why we are asking you to share your perspectives about our school development plan, school budget and school fees.
- The survey is open from Wednesday February 19 to Friday March 14.
- Please click here to complete the survey.
- In-person presentation and Q &A were held during the February 19th School Council meeting.
Your input is important to us, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your perspectives.
Mois de la francophonie
March marks Mois de la Francophonie in Alberta, and we’re excited to continue celebrating this important event at Chinook Park with all of our students! From March 10 to 21, students will take part in a variety of activities that highlight and celebrate French language and culture. Festivities will include school assemblies, engaging classroom activities, an outdoor Carnaval, la tire d'érable (maple taffy) treat, and a special presentation.
As in previous years, Carnaval is our biggest event and wouldn’t be possible without the support of our amazing parent volunteers! This year’s celebration will take place on March 12. If you’re able to lend a hand, please sign up using the link below—we’d love to have you join the fun!

And guess what? Bonhomme Carnaval might be stopping by to join the fun—fingers crossed for a visit from this iconic winter friend!
Do You Put the "I" in KIND?
This week at Chinook Park, students embraced the spirit of Kindness Week by participating in Kindness Bingo and spreading positivity throughout our school. From lending a helping hand to sharing a smile, acts of kindness were everywhere! Students who were "caught being kind" will have their names entered into a draw for a chance to win Chinook Park spirit wear next week. Keep up the kindness, Chinook Park—we are proud of you!
