As we head toward the end of January, we’d like to take a moment to highlight a few important updates and celebrations from the week. We had a great Options Friday with our older students, and it has been wonderful to see their engagement and enthusiasm. There is just one more Options session left to look forward to before we start round 2!

We are also excited to welcome teachers and friends from Woodman School, who will be joining us on Monday to present the Late French Immersion Program to our English Grade 6 students. We look forward to offering them a warm Chinook Park welcome as they share information about this program and next‑step opportunities. Families are encouraged to reach out to M. Comeau, Mme Godbout, or Woodman School directly if they have any questions about the Late French Immersion program.

Youth Mental Health Study

Dr. Paul Arnold and his research team in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Calgary are collaborating on a national research project called the Genetic Architecture of Youth Anxiety (GAYA) study. The goal of this study is to better understand how genetics and other factors influence anxiety in young people.

Youth aged 8–19 years who speak English and can use a smartphone for a short study task are eligible to participate. The study is conducted entirely online and involves a one-time survey and a saliva sample. Participants receive $20 as a thank-you for their time.
