Bon Vendredi!

Happy Friday!

It’s been another busy and joyful week at school! Our Grade 6 students celebrated their hard work with a well-deserved Patrollers Picnic and enjoyed their swimming sessions; thank you to our families for helping make these opportunities possible.

Across the school, students took advantage of the beautiful weather with many community walks, and our Grade 1/2 classes had a fantastic time exploring and learning at Granary Road. It’s wonderful to see learning come alive beyond the classroom.

As we head into the final stretch, next week marks the last week of PATs and we wish all of our students continued focus and success. We’re also looking forward to our final Fun Lunch of the year, as well as several exciting field trips planned throughout the week.

A reminder that our school picnic takes place on Monday, we look forward to seeing many of our families there as we celebrate together as a school community!

Bus transportation 2026-27

The deadline to register for school bus transportation for the 2026–27 school year is Sunday, June 14.

Our records indicate that there are currently 283 students eligible for transportation next year; however, we have received only 64 registration forms to date.

If your family plans to use school bus transportation, we strongly encourage you to register before the deadline so your child can be included in our transportation planning. Registrations received after June 14 are not guaranteed a bus stop assignment for the first day of school and may experience a delay of 6–8 weeks before service can be arranged.

Bus stop locations are determined based on the number of registered students within an area. If the assigned bus stop does not meet your family's needs, you may cancel transportation without financial penalty by submitting a cancellation form before September 30, 2026.

Thank you for registering by the deadline and helping us plan transportation services effectively for the upcoming school year.

Alberta Class Size Reduction Grant

We are pleased to inform you that our school has been allocated 1 additional teaching position for the 2026–27 school year through the Government of Alberta’s Class Size Reduction Grant.

This grant funds teaching positions that support improved learning conditions in kindergarten to Grade 9 classrooms.

This funding is specifically intended to help reduce class sizes in core subject areas (English Language Arts/French Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies), with priority given to schools experiencing the greatest class size pressures.

This decision was made using system-wide data that considers:

  • The number of classes exceeding provincial class size benchmarks
  • Projected enrolment and class organization
  • School programming and grade configuration

Our goal is to ensure students benefit from:

  • Increased teacher attention
  • Improved classroom learning environments
  • Greater support for diverse learning needs

We remain committed to supporting strong learning environments for all students and using our resources thoughtfully and strategically.

Thank you,

Grade 6 Year-End Celebration

Join us on the final day for our Grade 6 Year-End Celebration! The event begins at 12:45 p.m. in the gym with an assembly for all of our students where we will distribute certificates and perform a special year-end song by our students. A party with refreshments in the courtyard will follow. Due to space limitations, each student may invite up to two family members.

As in previous years, siblings will be invited to join at the end of the day!

Kindergarten Year End Celebrations

The Kindergarten classes will be celebrating the end of their amazing school year and transition to Grade 1 this week in the courtyard. Please check messages directly from the teacher.

Lost and Found

We encourage you to stop by our Lost and Found before Thursday, June 25 to take a look for any missing items. After this date, all remaining items will be donated to Goodwill. Items labeled with student names will be returned to students whenever possible.

School Council

Fun Lunch

Next week, Wednesday June 17, will be our last Fun Lunch fundraising event, lunch provided by Subway. The last day to order is this Friday, June 12th, the website automatically cuts orders off at 11:59pm. We have no capacity to accept late orders.

If you would like to place an order, please register your student(s) on the Healthy Hunger website at https://healthyhunger.ca/index.php. Once you have completed your registration you will be able to view this event and the order form. Please note that the school to register for is "Chinook Park”.

The order form provides the option of making an additional donation to the fundraiser. If you wish to do so, select “Additional Donation to BB4CK Program / School Council Funds” to donate in $1 increments.

These specific donations are used towards purchasing every student in our school supported by the Brown Bag 4 Calgary Kids Program a meal for Fun Lunch events. YOUR GENEROSITY MATTERS: without your donations we would be unable to cover the cost of these meals. THANK YOU! If your family is able, we greatly appreciate your continued generosity so that we can continue providing this program each Fun Lunch. Any additional funds above providing BB4CK meals go back to Student Council funds.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to help these events run smoothly- to assure students receive their lunches in a timely manner. If you already have approved security clearance through our school and wish to volunteer, click the below link:

This is only a half hour time commitment, and is a great way to help out and see your child in their school environment.

Please note, on the day of Fun Lunch, if your child is absent their food item(s) will be placed in the fridge. They are stored in the fridge for 24 hours, and then disposed of to be sure we adhere to food safety requirements. It is up to you to pick up your absent child’s food within the 24 hours during school office hours, or to call the office to make alternate arrangements.

If you have any issues or questions, please contact Lindsay Mandry at chinookparkfunfood@gmail.com.

Thank you for supporting our school!
