Bon Vendredi! Happy Friday!
Our ‘Mois de la Francophonie’ celebrations are in full swing! Students had fun on Wednesday during our half-day packed with Carnaval activities including maple taffy tasting! They also participated in a French bistro serving crêpes drizzled with ample maple syrup on Friady. These events were made possible with the help of our parent volunteers and teachers—thank you! Looking ahead, we're excited for next week's Francofolies, featuring traditional music and dance. Student should not forget to dress like a ‘bûcheron’ to join in the fun!
This week, we also hosted a Grade 5-6 Outdoor School information session with Camp Chief Hector, providing valuable insights for our students and their families. Additionally, our Grade 4 students participated in the Alberta Education Assurance Survey on Thursday. We appreciate their thoughtful feedback and extend our gratitude to the parents who completed the survey at home. Your input is invaluable in guiding our school's continuous improvement efforts.
Parent-Teacher Interviews – Online
Due to the ongoing CUPE Local 40 labor action the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) has transitioned all March parent-teacher conferences to an online format to ensure continuity and accessibility. cbe.ab.ca
Parents and guardians can book these online conferences through their MyCBE accounts. The interview dates are:
- Thursday, March 20 from 4:00 to 7:30pm
- Friday, March 21 from 8:00-12:00pm.
Grade 5/6 Outdoor School
Presentation slides from our recent Grade 5/6 Outdoor School information session with Camp Chief Hector YMCA are now available on our school's website. You can access them here: Link
We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. For more details about Camp Chief Hector's outdoor education programs, please visit the YMCA Calgary website: ymcacalgary.org
Book Fair
Due to the ongoing CUPE Local 40 labour action, we also must shift the way we organize our Spring Scholastic Book Fair.
Students will get a chance as a classroom to preview the books in the library on Monday and Tuesday March 17th and 18th. Students will be able to purchase books:
- Wednesday, March 19th from 8:30am - 2:30pm
- Thursday, March 20th from 8:30 - 2:30pm
Parents are welcome to come during this time but must sign in at the office first.
Teachers will be asked to fill in their classrooms "book wish list" prior to the fair. Look for your child's teacher's name on the display entrance to the library and if you wish you can purchase a book for their classroom. Every generous gift you make will be recognized with a special bookplate, identifying your family or child as the donor.
All purchases benefit our school and earn Rewards that can be redeemed for books and Education Resources for our school library. The Scholastic book fair is the only fundraiser for our school's library.
Don't forget to enter the draw during the book fair for your child to win $25 in books or Scholastic supplies. The winner will be announced when student return to school on Monday, March 31st. They can then choose from any items from the fair.

These specific donations are used towards purchasing every student supported by the Brown Bag Program a meal every Fun Lunch event.
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to help these events run smoothly- to assure students receive their lunches in a timely manner. If you already have approved security clearance through our school and wish to volunteer, click the link below:
This is only a half hour time commitment, and is a great way to help out and see your child in their school environment.
