Bon Jeudi!
Happy Thursday!
This week brought many moments to celebrate across our school community. Congratulations to our Grade 6 students who completed Part 2 of the DELF assessment: well done for your hard work and perseverance! We also wrapped up our final week with our artist in residence, who will continue to be in the building as she completes the mural work. The beautiful weather made the week even better and allowed us to fully enjoy time together.
A quick reminder that 80’s Day has been postponed and will now take place on May 20. Looking ahead to tomorrow, we are excited for our Cultural Assembly hosted by our Grade 1 and Grade 2 French classes, made in preparation for Cultural Day on May 7. Students are invited to bring items from home or wear clothing that reflects their culture.
Grade 6 Fundraising – Healthy Hunger (COBS Bakery)
Our Grade 6 Farewell fundraising event will take place Wednesday, May 6, featuring snacks from COBS Bakery. The last day to place orders is Friday, May 1 at 11:59 p.m. (the system automatically closes at that time and late orders cannot be accepted). Orders will be distributed to students on May 6 to be eaten during school hours. Funds raised support the Grade 6 farewell activities, including an outing to Southland Leisure Centre and an in‑school celebration. Families can purchase individual items or 6‑packs (which may be brought home to share), and there is also an option to make an additional donation through the order form. Donations first help cover snacks for students supported by the Brown Bag 4 Calgary Kids program, with remaining funds supporting the Grade 6 farewell. Orders and donations can be made through the Healthy Hunger website (register under Chinook Park). Please note that if a student is absent on May 6, items will be stored in the fridge for 24 hours and must be picked up or arrangements made with the office within that timeframe to meet food safety requirements.

Artist in Residence
We are very excited to be on our last week of lessons with our artist Natalia Ionescu before she uses students' ideas and inspiration to start our murals. Students are working on creating their own illustrations using their brainstormed ideas around Bloom, Hope and Community.
We are very excited to reveal the new community art piece in mid-May.
Spring Music Showcase
Our Grade 4-6 French and Gr 5-6 English classes will be showcasing their hard work on Thursday, May 14th at 6 pm. Students are asked to arrive by 5:40pm and go directly to their classroom. School Council has also organized a 50/50 draw. Tickets can be purchased by cash or card - $5 each or 3 for $10. All proceeds go to your School Council
There will also be a dress rehearsal at 1pm for grandparents and other family members to come watch.
Cultural Day
Our Chinook Park Cultural Day will be held on May 7th. This is a day for students and staff to show off and celebrate their stories, culture and celebrations. Students are invited to bring art, money, pictures, special clothing, a book, a recipe, etc. and dress in their cultural clothing, to share with their class.
This is a fun and inclusive day for students to share the diversity of their backgrounds and heritages.
