Bon Vendredi! Happy Friday!
We had a meaningful and solemn Remembrance Day ceremony yesterday.
Thank you to all parents and guardians who attended our assembly. It was a great turnout, and our school was pleased to be able to welcome attendees to this important service. Students demonstrated great audience skills, and our presenters did a fantastic job. Thank you to Ms. Gibson for organizing this event with her team!
Today, our staff participated in Maatoomsii’Pookaiks, an Indigenous Professional Development Day designed to deepen our understanding and commitment to Indigenous Education in the Calgary Board of Education (CBE). This day of learning, emphasizes the importance of building foundational knowledge about Indigenous histories, cultures, and rights for all staff and discussing our reconciliactions.
We hope all our families have a safe and enjoyable Fall Break, and we can't wait to hear about the exciting adventures our students will have when we return on Thursday, November 14th!
Fall Break
Next week marks the beginning of our Fall Break, so please make note of the schedule changes. There will be no school for students on Friday, November 8, due to a Professional Development Day. Additionally, from November 11 to 13, students and staff will have time off in observance of Remembrance Day and Fall Break.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Thursday, November 14.
Library
Thank you to the people who reached out for volunteering in our library!
We are still looking for people for an hour a week to help out with shelving books and general tidying up. Times and days are flexible. A few volunteers are also needed for the Scholastic Book Fair on Nov. 28th from 4-8 and Nov. 29th from 9-noon. Please email chinookpark@cbe.ab.ca if you are able to volunteer.
Drop-Off Safety Reminder
With the changing weather, we’re seeing an increase in morning drop-off traffic, and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation in keeping our school community safe.
- Alley Drop-Offs: If you’re using the alley for drop-off or pick-up, please follow the “unofficial” one-way flow from the west entrance to the east. Stay on the right side, leave space between cars, and always be alert for students crossing the alley before moving forward.
- Back Alley Crosswalk Safety: Please do not use the crosswalk area in the back alley as a drop-off point, and be vigilant for students and families crossing the alleyway.
- Bus Zone: The bus zone is strictly for buses. Do not use this area for drop-off under any circumstances.
- Staff Parking Lot: For safety reasons, please do not use the staff parking lot for student drop-offs.
For additional information on our parking and drop-off guidelines, please visit our website: https://chinookpark.cbe.ab.ca/parking.
Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe!
