ECPS Weekly - November 20 to 24

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Chers parents/tuteurs,

We hope everyone had a rejuvenating Fall Break! Our entire staff was able to gather on the November 8th Professional Development Day dedicated to deepening our understanding of the Heart Domain-To Belong, working together to implement the CBE Indigenous Education Holistic Lifelong Learning Framework. Our learning included teachers and support staff sharing how we are working collectively to advance academic achievement for all students thorough belonging and connection initiatives. We know that when students feel connected to their school community, their engagement and achievement increases. The Heart domain dovetails nicely with our School Development Well-being goal of promoting respect, kindness, and empathy.

As our weather continues to fluctuate, please ensure your children are sent to school with the appropriate apparel. Our lost and found has many items that would love to go back to their owners! Please check it out as one of your stops during the November 23 & 24th Parent-Teacher conferences. Booking information is below. We look forward to seeing all our families next week!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be on Thursday, Nov. 23, from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm and Friday, Nov. 24, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. French Immersion Kindergarten has an extra afternoon on Wednesday, Nov. 22 starting at 12:30 pm and ending at 4:00 pm. The School Conference Manager opens for booking on Saturday November 18 at 8:00 am.  Please access your MyCBE parent account to book an appointment.  Please note that conferences will be held in person. If you are unable to attend, please reach out to your student’s teacher to arrange an alternate time.

Winter concert

Save the Date! ECPS’s “Lights, Bites and Holiday Delights” winter music concert will be held on Thursday, December 14th and will feature our kindergarten classes, grade 1, 2, 3 and the 3/4 classes followed by a family social event. Stay tuned for more information! The other classes will be featured in a spring concert.

School Development Plan

This year, our School Development Plan (SDP) will have a holistic focus on assessment practices across disciplines – Literacy, Math and Well-being. We will present the results from our previous SDP and the details of this year’s plan at the next School Council meeting on November 29th. See you there!

Book Fair

We are excited to have a Scholastic Book Fair next week during conferences. This is a school-based fundraiser and a great way to increase your home libraries. Mme Angeline is still looking for a couple volunteers to help out during the fair. If you are available, please reach out to her directly at aahiggins@cbe.ab.ca.
