ECPS Weekly - November 27 to December 1
Bonjour,
It was great to connect with families during our parent teacher conferences for the past couple of days. Thank you all for taking the time to meet with the teachers and get updates on your child's learning and progress.
Mme Angeline ran a fantastic book fair fundraiser during conferences. Thank you to her and her team of parent volunteers for running this successful event.
We are excited to begin our first round of Clubs and Intramurals next week. On Thursday, November 30, we will have the first round of weekly clubs. Intramurals will start on December 4th. Throughout the year, we will introduce multiple clubs such as multiple opportunities including Lego, Art, Music, Minecraft, Cross-Cultural Learning, Technology, Coding, Chess, Math and Cup Stacking.

English as an Additional Language
November Update
Ms. Carpenter and Ms. Leroux have been helping to support our English as an Additional Language Learners in the school. Since the beginning of October, they have been working with students who are developing their language knowledge.
Our team has been working on creating a safe, welcoming and caring school for new students by:
- Working with small groups of students with limited English.
- Having informal student ambassadors/buddies in classrooms.
- Purchasing dual language books for the school library.
- Starting up a cross cultural learning club.
- Supporting families with interpretation services for conferences and meetings.
Support for families
We have posted resources on our school website that we have been using with some of our EAL students.

Winter concert
Save the Date! ECPS’s “Lights, Bites and Holiday Delights” winter music concert will be held on Thursday, December 14th and will feature our grades 1, 2, 3 and the 3/4 classes followed by a family social event. Our daytime production will feature our Kindergarten classes. Stay tuned for more information. Our older grades will be featured in the spring concert. More details to follow.
Lockdown Drill
The safety of all students and staff of Chinook Park School is of great importance. Each year we do six fire drills and two lockdown drills.
We are going to practice a lockdown drill during the morning of November 29, 2023. Calgary Police Services will be present to support. Teachers will be instructing students regarding their role during a drill of this kind and students will be aware of the drill.
As part of our procedures, one long bell heard outside indicates a lockdown is in progress and students/parents should move away from the building. It is not possible to gain entry to the school when one long bell is sounding.
We appreciate your support in these important matters.
