ECPS Weekly - November 6 to 10
Dear Parents/Guardian.
Chers parents/tuteurs,
We had another exciting week with Tuesday’s Halloween Parade and pumpkin carving contest. Many parents popped in for the parade to cheer on our students in their Halloween costumes. Several classes had special activities this week such as pumpkin science, art projects and writing about Remembrance Day. Our grade six students visited the Police Interpretive Centre to support science outcomes. They were joined by Woodman School students, who may be their classmates next year. We look forward to building many connections with Woodman, our feeder school, over the year.
Many thanks to everyone who has donated to Jacket Racket. We sent a huge pile of winter wear to Jacket Racket today, via a parent volunteer, and will not be able to receive any more donations as this program campaign has ended.
On another note, our school Pantry has been well-stocked this month, thank you! We will continue to accept non-perishable food and personal hygiene donations all year. Please reach out if you are in need.
Next week begins our Fall Break. This is new for us this year, so please mark your calendars. There is no school for students on November 9th, as it is a Professional Day. November 10-14 will be student and staff days off for the Remembrance Day holiday and Fall Break days. We will welcome everyone back to school on Wednesday, November 15th.
Remembrance Day Assembly
Our annual Remembrance Day assembly will be on Wednesday, November 8 at 10:10. Parents are welcome to attend. All students will be receiving poppies. If you wish to donate to the poppy fund, please send it on Wednesday.
Attendance
Teachers will open the school doors in the morning from 7:57-8:00. Once the classes have entered, the teachers need to be with students in classrooms. If you are arriving after 8:00, please proceed to the front door where your child can sign in. Parents are not permitted to walk their children to class, as it creates disruption in the learning environment. If your child requires an escort, our staff will be happy to walk your child to class.
This weekend is the time change, when we turn our clocks back one hour. This could be a good opportunity to reset routines so that on-time entry is achieved.
Library Books
Please help remind your child(ren) to return their library books on time. Mme Angeline will be sending out overdue letters to students with books that are very overdue. Exchanging books regularly provides great literacy opportunities and keeps our collection circulating for all to enjoy.
Mark your Calendars
We will have our Parent-Teacher interviews on the evening of Thursday, Nov. 23 and the morning of Friday, Nov. 24. Please note this in your calendars and watch for more details in upcoming messages. Interview bookings will begin the morning of November 18th.
From the Public Health Nurse
Public Health Nurses will be coming to the school on Tuesday November 7 to provide routine immunizations to students in grade 1-6. We are only doing those students that we have written consent for and may have missed a previous program day. No new consents have been issued.
Please note that COVID and influenza immunizations are not offered through the school immunization program, and only routine immunizations with signed consent forms will be provided.
The Alberta Immunization schedule can be found here for your review: Recommended vaccines (alberta.ca)
If your child has had any changes to their health status since returning the forms, please call your school's public health nurse to let them know. If you have previously agreed to the immunizations but have since changed your mind, please call your school's public health nurse prior to November 7 to withdraw your consent.
For ways to help reduce pain, fear and anxiety, or to help prepare your child for immunizations, please visit Commitment to Comfort | Alberta Health Services
Please ensure your child eats breakfast and wears a short sleeve shirt for immunization day. If you would like to speak with the school nurse, please contact Sherri Ingle sherri.ingle@albertahealthservices.ca or by phone at 403-944-7178.”
