Bon Vendredi,
Happy Friday,

A huge thank you to student patrollers, who began their duties this past Thursday. We are so proud of the leadership they are showing in this important role of keeping our crosswalk safe!

This week also brought two special occasions to recognize key members of our school community. On Tuesday, we celebrated our caretakers. Their hard work behind the scenes keeps our school running smoothly and creates a welcoming and safe environment for our students and staff. We are so grateful for all they do!

Tomorrow, we will be recognizing World Teachers’ Day. Our teachers work hard every day to inspire and support our students. Please join us in thanking them for their commitment, passion, and the difference they make in the lives of our children.

Walking distance trips

Every year, we update a letter about walking distance field trips, so we are able to access great walking distance locations around our school without sending and collecting forms. Staff will still communicate with parents when going out to these locations 48 hours in advance.

Please find attached our 2024-2025 version.

Terry Fox Donations

Thank you to all our Chinook Park families for your generous donations to the Terry Fox Run. Together, we raised $1 682, 65 to support cancer research through the Terry Fox Foundation. Your contributions are greatly appreciated and help keep Terry’s legacy alive. Thank you for making this year’s event a success!

Message from School Council

Fun Lunch

Our Fun Lunches are back up and running! Each year you have to create a new account and link your child with his current teacher. Our first lunch is Wednesday October 16 and Orders deadline is October 11, 2024. If you wish to order, please go to Healthy Hunger to order online. Instructions were sent out last week with specific information on how to order. You can order all at once for the year, or login at any point (before the Fridays order cut-off dates) to purchase lunch for your student(s).  Fun Lunches are an exciting event for our students and a great way to raise money for the Chinook Park School Council.

Message from the City of Calgary

Last week to share your feedback!

The City conducted a Summer Park pilot or “pop-up” in Kingsland to:

  • create a new community space to play, socialize, relax, and gather for all ages and abilities,
  • act on community suggestions from the Heritage Local Area Plan, “to enhance and improve civic facilities, parks, open spaces and natural areas”, and
  • explore innovative methods to better utilize Calgary’s public spaces.

We want to hear what you think about the pilot and future improvements to the park!

Please share your thoughts online until Oct 14, 2024 at engage.calgary.ca/kingslandpark
