ECPS Weekly - October 9-13
Happy Friday!
Bon Vendredi!
On Thursday, we took time to acknowledge the great work done by our teachers in recognition of World Teacher’s Day. Thank you to School Council for the coffee and treats for our amazing staff!
We had our annual Terry Fox Run on Thursday morning. We kicked off with an assembly where Mme Sarah talked about how Terry Fox demonstrated resilience and how we, as students, show resilience by trying again and having a growth mindset. All students ran our route, counted how many laps they did and we collected Twoonies for Terry. It was great to see students from K-6 and our EES2 class running together with parents cheering us along!
Happy Thanksgiving! There is no school on Monday, October 9 in recognition of this holiday.
Today we are saying goodbye to Ms. Woelfle from our ½ Team, as she will begin her maternity leave. We are pleased to welcome Ms. Bretton Bowd who will begin with the class on Tuesday.
Colder Weather
Please ensure your child comes dressed for the weather. Cool mornings and warmer afternoons are filling up our Lost & Found as jackets get left outside during breaks along with water bottles and snack containers. Labeling your child’s gear will help get it returned to them.
Fun Lunch
Our Fun Lunches are back up and running! Each year you have to create a new account if you wish to participate. Our first lunch is next Wednesday, October 11th and orders are due tonight at midnight. If you wish to order, please go to Healthy Hunger to order online. Instructions were sent out last week with specific information on how to order. This is a fundraiser for our school, organized by School Council.
Commercial Messages
In order to receive all messages from the school, make sure that you have opted in for “commercial” messages using the email we have on file. If not, you will not receive things like fun lunch, field trip or fundraiser emails from the school. To subscribe: https://calgary.schoolmessenger.com/cbe_subscribe
Jacket racket
The Jacket Racket campaign will be running once again through the month of October. If you have winter gear that your family no longer requires and you wish to donate it, please send it to the school between now and October 31st. We are happy to accept any size winter jackets, mittens, snow pants, toques and boots that are clean and in good condition. These will be sent to Jacket Racket for redistribution to families in need across the city.
If you are in need of some winter clothing for your child, please reach out to Mrs. Poole via chinookpark@cbe.ab.ca.
We are looking for a parent volunteer to deliver the collected items to Jacket Racket’s distribution centre on Friday, November 3rd between 10 a.m. and noon in the Foothills industrial area. If you are able to do this, please let Mrs. Poole know.

Message from the CBE
Child and Youth Well-Being - A Webinar Series for Parents and Guardians
Dear Parents / Guardians,
The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join us in an online series focusing on child and youth well-being. These sessions will be hosted in partnership with experts from Alberta Health Services and will explore topics such as vaping, brain development, mental health, and sexual health.
Click here to learn more: Child and Youth Well-Being: A Webinar Series for Parents and Guardians
CBE educators believe that parents and guardians can inspire their kids to make healthy lifestyle choices and increase protective factors – in order to do so, they need the right tools and information.
Well-being is a precondition for learning. As our understanding of student well-being continues to evolve, it is important for those that support children and youth to stay up to date on the same information so everyone can support student success.
The intention of the series is to advance student well-being by raising family and caregiver’s understanding of a variety of health-related topics.
Thank you for your time and consideration to join us.
