ECPS Weekly - September 11-15
Bon Vendredi,
Happy Friday,
This week we’ve visited most classrooms to welcome our new students, catch up with the returning students and provide reminders about school expectations. Classes are settling into their new routines and diving into learning. We had our first fire drill on Thursday, and our students did a fantastic job! This morning was our first school-wide assembly, where we introduced staff and shared some pictures from the first week at school.
Message from School Council
Welcome Back Picnic
Join us for a welcome back picnic on Thursday, Sept 14 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM in the field beside the school. Bring a blanket and a picnic and we will have a cold treat for the kids. All family members are welcome. This will also be a chance to meet the school administration as well as the School Council Executive. While we love your furry friends, please note that pets are not allowed on school grounds during this event.
School Council Needs Your Help!
The Ecole Chinook Park School Council organizes a number of events, programs and initiatives throughout the year that enhance student experiences and build a strong sense of community around the school. In order to put on all of these great programs and events, we rely entirely on volunteers from the school community.
This year we are looking to fill a few executive positions on School Council as well as volunteers to lead individual events and committees. If you are interested in volunteering or are curious about what might be involved, please reach out to Katie McKinnon, School Council Chair at chinookparkchair@gmail.com.
School Pictures
School pictures have been scheduled for September 21. Students will have both Class and Individual pictures taken on this day. Retakes for individual pictures will be on October 26.
Meet the Teacher
Thursday Evening
We are excited to welcome our families to École Chinook Park School on Thursday, September 21, 2023. All classes and school spaces will be open for you to visit and meet your child’s teacher.
We will have an open house format, similar to last year. Feel free to pop into your child(ren)’s classroom anytime between 5:15 – 7:30. All classroom teachers will be offering a brief presentation at 5:30, 6:00, 6:30 and 7:00 to showcase their routines and snapshots of what a day looks like in their room. Feel free to create your own schedule to see all of your child(ren)’s teachers.
Teachers are still in the process of getting to know your children and as such this evening event will be focused on connecting with our families, rather than one-on-one conversations.
Friday
If your child has an Individual Program Plan (IPP), teachers will be reaching out to set up preliminary conversations around goals for this year. If you require a one-on-one conversation this early in the school year, please discuss with your child’s teacher directly.
Transportation
New and returning students need to register for bus and noon supervision services. It usually takes one to two weeks before the student can ride the bus. Please ensure that you complete the registration for both noon supervision and bus via MyCBE parent account. You will receive an update with the bus stop and effective date on your parent account.
Online Forms
One way you can help us get ready for the year is to complete or review and update some important forms via SchoolEngage. Information on how to access this through your MyCBE parent account was sent out from the CBE earlier this week.
Please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Monday, September 18. These forms are mandatory every year for Alberta Education to confirm student funding. Thank you for completing them.
