Week 2 was filled with Welcome Back activities as students continued to settle into their routines and build connections within our school community. Throughout the week, classes explored our four Chinook Park values through a variety of activities and discussions. We were also very impressed with how well our students and staff did during our first fire drill of the year!

As a reminder, Photo Day will take place on Monday and we are looking forward to see families at our school picnic Wednesday evening! 

Photo Day 

Photo day will be Monday, September 14^th, where families will have the opportunity to order their child's photo and class photo from LifeTouch. A form will be sent home the same day with ordering instructions. Retakes and any student who was absent will get retakes on October 22^nd. 

Youth Musical Theater Canada 

We will be facilitating the Calgary’s upcoming Fall 2026 program auditions for "The Lost World" on Tuesday, September 22nd (lunch period) for Gr 5-6 students interested and who have returned the permission form sent home on Monday. Message from School Council

School picnic 

School Council is hosting a welcome back picnic on Wednesday, September 16 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm in the field outside the school. Bring a blanket and your own picnic and School Council will provide a cold treat for the kids. Siblings are welcome but please leave pets at home.  

School Council Volunteers and AGM

We are always looking for parents and guardians who are interested in getting involved with our School Council. School Council plays an important role in supporting our school community, and we welcome new volunteers and ideas. If you would like to learn more or get involved, please email chinookparkchair@gmail.com. Our first Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Wednesday, September 23 and families can participate either in person or online. We hope you will consider joining us!

CBE Support series 

The Calgary Board of Education is sharing a free online series for parents and guardians focused on child and youth well-being. Hosted by Recovery Alberta in partnership with local experts, these sessions offer practical strategies and resources to support children and teens. Please see the attached poster for upcoming sessions and registration information.

Annual Volunteer Registration Required 

To help ensure the safety and security of all students and staff, all school volunteers must complete an Annual Volunteer Registration Form each school year before participating in volunteer activities. This requirement applies to both new and returning volunteers. Parents and guardians can register through the SchoolEngage tab in their MyCBE account, where they will also review and acknowledge the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) requirements. New this year, community members who do not have a child attending a CBE school must complete their volunteer registration in person at the school where they wish to volunteer. We greatly appreciate the support of our volunteers and look forward to partnering with you throughout the year.
