Bon Vendredi,
Happy Friday,

We had a couple of years' firsts this week! We completed our first Fire Drill this Wednesday. Students did a great job exiting and reinterring the school and calmly lining up with their classes in the field. We also had our first indoor recess on Thursday due to the heavy rain. To incorporate movement during our indoor recess, we use our gym, activity room and library to provide alternate spaces for activities.

Unfortunately, due to the rain on Wednesday afternoon, the school council welcome back picnic had to be cancelled. We are looking at rescheduling this event next week, based on the weather forecast. If the event proceeds, we will send further communication on Monday.

School Photos

School pictures are scheduled for September 19.  Students will have both Class and Individual pictures taken on this day.

Meet the Teacher

Thursday Evening

We are excited to welcome our families to École Chinook Park School on Thursday, September 27, 2024. All classes and school spaces will be open for you to visit and meet your child’s teacher.

The night will start at 5:15 pm and end at 7:30 pm. All classroom teachers will be offering a brief presentation at 5:30, 6:00, 6:30 and 7:00 to showcase routines and a snapshot of what a day looks like in their room.

Teachers are still in the process of getting to know your children and as such, this evening event will be focused on connecting with our families, rather than one-on-one conversations.

Friday Morning

If your child has an Individual Program Plan (IPP), teachers will be reaching out to set up preliminary conversations around goals for this year. If you require a one-on-one conversation this early in the school year, please discuss it with your child’s teacher directly.

Kindergarten Conferences

Kindergarten are doing their conferences a bit differently. Families will receive communication from Mme. Corine or Ms. Leroux next week.

Terry Fox

Our school Terry Fox run is happening next Friday! Students will start their run at around 9:15 am and end close to 10:00 am. Families are welcome to come and cheer students on!

This week we distributed Toonies for Terry donation containers to all classrooms. Families can choose to bring funds to school with their children for donations. We will be collecting the money until September 26th.  We also have a page with the Terry Fox Foundation where families can donate online: Terry Fox Chinook Park

Attendance/Lates

If your child will be late, absent or leave early, please send an email to chinookpark@cbe.ab.ca If your child is a bus student and you are planning to pick them up that day, please reach out as early as possible so we can adjust bus attendance accordingly.

Additionnal Information is available on our website.

Reminder- Online Forms

Thank you to all parents who completed the online forms! Please make sure that the demographic and consent forms have been completed. Updated documentation helps the school when planning activities/field trips and with communication. Volunteer forms can be found on the same page @ my CBE account.
