Bon Vendredi,

Happy Friday,

It was wonderful to reconnect with so many of you at Thursday’s School Council Picnic! We had a great turnout, beautiful weather, and a warm sense of community. The school year is off to a strong start in learning, with many classes already planning field trips, buddy activities, and outdoor learning experiences to enrich curricular outcomes.

Monday’s picture day brought out lots of bright smiles: we look forward to seeing those photos when they come back! On Tuesday, we had an impromptu visit from the Calgary Parking Authority and Calgary Police Services for our morning drop-off. While routines have been going relatively smoothly this year, please remember to stay safe: the back alley is a great place for drop-offs, no U-turns, and no parking in the bus zone. Friday, our students showed great spirit in the Terry Fox Run, coming together with energy and determination to honour Terry’s legacy.

Looking ahead, our School Council AGM is next week, with many important roles to fill. Families are welcome to join us either online or in person. Here is the link for the online meeting.

Demographic Verification Forms

A reminder that families are required to complete the annual Demographic Verification Form for the 2025–26 school year. These forms are a legal requirement from Alberta Education and are important for ensuring accurate student information and school funding. If you have not yet completed your form, please do so as soon as possible. Families will continue to receive reminder messages from the CBE until the form is submitted. Thank you for taking a few minutes to complete this important task.

Attendance/Lates

If your child will be late, absent or leave early, please send an email to chinookpark@cbe.ab.ca  If your child is a bus student and you are planning to pick them up that day, please reach out as early as possible so we can adjust attendance accordingly.

Additionnal Information is available on our website.

Orange Shirt Day – Friday, September 26

This Friday, we will recognize Orange Shirt Day as a school community. Orange Shirt Day is a time to honour the experiences of Indigenous children who were sent to residential schools, and to reflect on the importance of truth and reconciliation in Canada. We encourage students and staff to wear an orange shirt on Friday.

Picture day

Lifetouch will send picture proofs soon. You will be able to review and purchase your pictures on mylifetouch.ca

Retakes or photos for students who were absent will be on Thursday, October 23.

Message from School Council

School Council AGM – Wednesday

Our School Council Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Wednesday, and all parents are welcome to attend. The AGM is a great opportunity to hear about the work of the School Council and to get involved. The meeting starts at 6:30pm in the learning commonsand we also stream it.

The École Chinook Park School Council organizes events and initiatives that enhance student learning and build a sense of community. To make this possible, we rely on volunteers from our parent community. This year, we are looking to fill many executive positions as well as find volunteers to help lead events and committees.

If you are interested or simply curious about what’s involved, please join us this wednesday or connect with our current School Council Chair, Dom Puglia, at chinookparkchair@gmail.com

Casino Fundraiser – Volunteers Needed

Our upcoming Casino Fundraiser on October 6 and 7 is the biggest fundraiser for our school community, generating nearly $60,000 over just two days. These funds directly support programs, field trips, and resources that benefit all students. To make this event possible, we rely on volunteers—without them, the fundraiser cannot happen. Volunteering is a fun way to give back, and many parents enjoy meeting families from across different grades. If you’re able to help, please sign up using this link: Casino Volunteer Signup
