Happy Friday!

What a great week at Chinook Park! It was wonderful to see so many families join us for Meet the Teacher on Thursday. Thank you for taking the time to connect with staff, visit classrooms, and help us kick off another great year of learning together.

We also had an incredible turnout for our School Council meeting on Wednesday evening. We are grateful for the strong support and engagement from our parent community. Your partnership helps make our school such a special place.

Looking ahead, we have another busy and meaningful week planned as we recognize Truth and Reconciliation and participate in our Terry Fox event. Please note that there will be no school for students on Wednesday. It should be a wonderful week for learning, reflection, and coming together as a school community as we honor the importance of truth, reconciliation, and Terry Fox's legacy of hope and perseverance.

Truth and Reconciliation

We know this day well as Orange Shirt Day and would like to continue this teaching, as well as start to expand and explore Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action. The day is officially called National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Orange shirts continue to be an important symbol as we move from learning about residential school towards taking action towards Reconciliation.

All students are invited to wear orange shirts on Tuesday, September 29^th and our Gr 2 French classes will MCs our assembly at 1pm in the gym, as there is no class on September 30^th.

Terry Fox Run

This year's Terry Fox Run will be on Friday, October 2nd.

Each classroom has a donation box for cash donations for the Terry Fox Foundation and Canadian Cancer Society. Students can bring a cash donation to their classroom teacher until October 2nd, or families can choose to donate online at the Chinook Park School link

Our run will be on the field and will start at 9:00 am. Parents/guardians are welcome to come cheer students on. Our fan zone will be near the 75-avenue fence.

Yearly Demographic Verification Forms

Thank you to the families who have already completed their Annual Forms in SchoolEngage. If you have not yet done so, please take a few minutes to complete your Demographic Verification Form and Annual Authorization Forms as soon as possible. These forms help us maintain accurate student information, support school planning, and ensure appropriate funding and services for students. Annual Authorization Forms now also include consent for student participation in CBE surveys. Families can access all forms through their MyCBE Account and SchoolEngage

AGM

Thank you to everyone that participated in Wednesday’s meeting. We will share our new Parent Council members next week. The next meeting is on October 30^th at 6:30pm in the school library or on Teams. All parents are welcome to attend.

Chinook Park Apparel Store

We are proud to unveil our new apparel design, created from the ideas and inspiration shared by students during our Artist in Residence project in April last year. Student voices played an important role in shaping both our school mural and this logo, which reflects the creativity, diversity, and strong sense of belonging that define our community.

Invite | National Day for TRC & Orange Shirt Day Events 

All CBE staff, students, families, friends, and neighbors are invited to continue learning and show support at the 5th annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation & Orange Shirt Day event taking place at the Confluence Historic Site on Wednesday, Sept. 30 from 9-10:30 a.m. This important community gathering is a collaboration between the City of Calgary, CBE, Calgary Catholic School District, Calgary Police Service, Calgary Fire Department, and The Confluence. A CBE group photo will be taken at the CBE Smudge Tipi at the end of the event. Meet us there! 🧡
