As we wrap up the final week of the school year, it has been a joyful and memorable time at Chinook Park School. This week, we celebrated our Grade 6 students during a wonderful ceremony on Tuesday. Our gym was full of students and Grade 6 families, and it was so special to see everyone together. The afternoon continued with fun in the courtyard, and we sincerely thank our Grade 6 parents for helping make this experience so meaningful for our students.
We gathered as a whole school for our year-end assembly on Wednesday morning, beautifully organized by our Kindergarten students. They did an incredible job serving as MCs and sharing songs with the entire school. Our 1-6 students showed great respect throughout, and it was especially meaningful to introduce our updated Chinook Park land acknowledgment, inspired by photos of our students learning and connecting on the land. Today, we also enjoyed the Grade 6 vs. Staff soccer game, which brought lots of energy, laughter, and school spirit to our final week.
We are looking forward to Sports Day tomorrow and extend a big thank you to all of our volunteers for their support. As we close this school year, we are filled with pride for everything our students have accomplished and wish all of our families a safe, happy, and restful summer.
Staffing Update
As we wrap up the year, we want to extend our thanks to Mme Rachel for her support in Grade 4/5. We are pleased that she will be returning next year, joining our French Immersion Division 1 team. We are also happy to welcome back Mme Poshtchaman to our staff next year.
We are also sharing some farewells from our staff. Congratulations to Mr. Davis and Ms. Joyce on their retirements! We thank them for their years of dedication and wish them all the best in this next chapter.
Mme Julia will be taking on a new role as a Learning Leader at another school. Thank you for your many contributions to our school community. We wish you continued success.
We are also saying goodbye to Mme Linda and Mme Grace as they move on to new adventures. Mme Isabelle is also joining the teaching team at École Varsity Acres School and will leave our community next year. Thank you for your commitment to Chinook Park and for your contributions to the French Immersion program, you will be missed.
We are pleased to welcome some new additions to our school. Alexxa Duguay will be joining our French Immersion Division 2 team. She brings experience from multiple French immersion settings and middle school configurations, and we are happy to have her join our team. Hadiza Mahaman Adamou will be joining our French Immersion Division 1 team. Hadiza has worked as a substitute teacher at our school before and is coming to us after two years at École Sam Livingston School.
In addition, we are welcoming Nicole Fox to our Regular Program. As a frequent substitute teacher at our school, she already knows our students and community well, and we are excited to have her in this role.
With these returning staff members, new additions, and the collective experience of our team, we feel very well prepared for next year with a strong and dedicated staff supporting our students!
