Bon Vendredi! Happy Friday!

This week has been filled with excitement and events throughout the school! On Wednesday, we had a great time with Fun Lunch and Caroling in the gym, which brought smiles all around. Friday was especially cozy with Pajama Day, as classrooms enjoyed fun activities, many students spent time with their buddies and multiple classes came to the gym at the end of the day for round 2 of caroling.

Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable winter break! We look forward to welcoming students back on Monday, January 6, 2025.

Fire Drill and Lockdown Drills

This week, we completed two important safety drills. On Monday, we held a fire drill, and students did a great job exiting the building quickly and orderly. On Thursday, we conducted a lockdown drill in collaboration with Calgary Police Services. Teachers reviewed expectations with students beforehand, and the drill went smoothly. We received great feedback from the attending officer, who commended our school community on how well the drill was carried out. Thank you to everyone for their cooperation in helping us prioritize safety.

Rhythm, Rhythm, Rhythm

We are excited that starting in January, all students will be participating in a drumming residency called Rhythm, Rhythm, Rhythm. Over the course of three weeks, students will engage in this program during their regular music periods. A big thank you to our School Council for financially supporting this wonderful opportunity—your support helps bring unique and enriching experiences to our students!

Kindergarten Registration for 2025-26

For children to be eligible to register and attend kindergarten next school year, they must turn five years old on or before Dec. 31, 2025.

Information Night

We will host an information evening on Thursday, January 16th from 6:00 – 7:30 for families considering Chinook Park for their children. This will focus on the benefits of learning a second language and French Immersion at École Chinook Park School. Families considering either French Immersion or Regular program and who live in our designated area are welcome to attend. Early French Immersion can start in Kindergarten or Grade One year. Children must be at least five years old as of Dec. 31, 2025 to start Kindergarten in fall 2025.

Word of mouth has been a successful tool in growing our school population in the past. Spread the word!

Nations Vision Clinic Eye Exams

Last year, the Nations Vision Clinic was a great success, helping many students and families with their vision needs. We are happy to share that the clinic will be returning this year from January 20 - 24 to offer eye exams for all families. Permission forms will be sent home the first week of January. Participation is not mandatory, however if you wish for your child to receive a free eye exam, the form must be returned to their teacher.
