ECPS Weekly – November 20 to 24

Bonjour,

This week we saw the first day of our lunch break clubs begin. On Thursdays, our younger students have the choice between Math Club with M. Mathieu or Culture Club with Ms. Carpenter and our older students can choose between Origami with Mme Katie and Card Games with Mme. Austin. Next week, we are adding Intramural options on Mondays and Tuesdays.

On Wednesday afternoon we had our first lockdown drill of the year. As usual, Calgary Police Service officers were on-site to help us conduct this safety drill. Just a reminder – if you hear one long bell ringing, do not approach the school. Our students did a fantastic job with this drill!

Our balmy weather seems to be continuing throughout the next week or so. Please watch for changes in the weather and dress accordingly. With these warmer days students are wearing jackets out for recesses and sometimes leaving them behind. Please label items like coats, mittens and hoodies to help ensure they get back to the owner. Our Lost & Found is growing way too quickly!

Winter Concert

Save the Date!  ECPS’s “Lights, Bites and Holiday Delights” winter music concert will be held on Thursday, December 14th with shows at 6:00 and 7:00. This will feature our grades 1, 2, 3 and the 3/4 classes. Click here for details on which show your child(ren) will be in, as well as student attire. Some families will have children in both shows, which cannot be avoided.

As our school grows, we are asking families to limit their guests to two people per family for the evening shows in order to have enough space in our gym for the audience. Families are welcome to send additional audience members to the daytime shows at 10:00 or 1:45. Please reach out to chinookpark@cbe.ab.ca if you need accommodation with this.

Our daytime production will feature our Kindergarten classes. Our older grades will be featured in the spring concert.

From our Library

Dear Parents and Families,

I’m sending my sincere gratitude for making our Book Fair an outstanding success!

Thanks to your contributions, we sold $6700 in books to raise $3350 for our school which we’ll use to purchase books for the library. Also, congratulations to Jacob in Mme. Barr’s class on winning the Scholastic draw.

My reward for hosting a Book Fair is watching your kids discover new books. All that joy wouldn’t be possible without volunteers from our school community. Thank you, Carla Chan, Erin McDougall and Marilyn McMillian for all your help.

I hope to see you and your child at our next Fair during the March Parent Teacher Interviews. Until then, happy reading!

Gratefully,

Angeline Higgins

Parent run events from Chinook Park School Council

Last year Chinook Park School Council was able to offer a social event in the courtyard following the winter concert paid by school council and run by parents of students at the school. Unfortunately, due to a lack of volunteers, we are unable to put on this event this year. If you are keen to have more events for families and students, and are able to volunteer your time, then please reach out to chinookparkchair@gmail.com. Please consider taking the time to participate in Chinook Park School Council, it is a crucial part of building school community and enriching student experience. Without additional volunteers we will not be able to continue to offer these events.

Thank you to all of those parents who have been actively engaged this fall for the 2023-2024 school year!
