Bon Vendredi! Happy Friday!
What a vibrant and meaningful week it has been at ECPS!
We celebrated Mental Health Week with activities that supported student well-being and encouraged open conversations. May also marks Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and we’ve begun exploring rich cultural traditions through classroom activities and student-led opportunities to share and learn.
A heartfelt Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mothers in our community! Our Grade 1 French students hosted their annual Mother’s Day Tea, and beautiful cards and crafts were sent home to mark the occasion. We hope you feel celebrated and appreciated.
All Gr 1-3 and 3-4 English students participated in their last Wellness Friday. Thank you to the parents and to Mme Louise who contributed to making this initiative possible. We will continue next year and are always looking for parents who can share their knowledge and passion with our students. Grade 4-6 students started their second round of options off with a bang, adding sport performance to the mix, along with the ever-popular coding, design and foods.
Our Grade 4–6 Ukrainian students had the opportunity to attend a presentation by the Calgary Bridge Foundation, learning more about the supports available to them and connecting with their peers.
Lockdown feedback
On Friday, our students participated in an unannounced lockdown practice, which is part of our regular safety procedures. Schools are required to conduct two lockdowns per year, and this drill completes our requirements for this school year. A Calgary Police Service officer was present to support the process and noted that our students did a great job following instructions and staying calm.
We have two more fire drills remaining before the end of the school year.
Next Year Planning
Each year, we ask families to complete a short survey to help us plan for the upcoming school year. Knowing how many students will be returning allows us to make informed decisions around staffing, class configurations, and resources. As a fun incentive, the first families to complete the survey will receive Chinook Park goodies!
👉 Please complete the survey by May 19 using this link: https://forms.office.com/r/DMddKphaX9
Separately, students have had the opportunity to share their input on classmates they feel they work well with and would like to be in the same class next year. This student voice is an important part of our class placement process. Teachers are guiding these conversations carefully, helping students reflect on positive learning relationships and make respectful, productive choices.
Thank you for your continued support and collaboration!
Kindergarten & New Student Welcome Night

If your child is registered for Kindergarten or is new to our school for the 2025–26 school year, we invite you to join us for our upcoming Welcome Night on May 29. Wellness Week BINGO
We had a fun filled week full of learning about ways to build and create a positive mental health through lessons, games, theme days and moving our minds and bodies.
Student Wellness Bingos must be returned by Monday, May 12th to win the school SWAG!
Lost and found
Our lost and found items will be displayed in the hallways to give students a chance to take a look and reclaim any missing winter items. Parents are also welcome to stop by and check for anything their child may have misplaced. Any unclaimed winter items will be donated to Chinook Park’s Jacket Racket and other organizations after the May long-weekend.

Courtyard Help
Calling all Green Thumbs! The chinook park garden and courtyard committee is looking for volunteers to help with general garden maintenance and clean up of the garden beds. We are currently planting the vegetable garden bed, tending the pollinator garden beds and looking to tidy up and replant in the flower garden at the front of the school. The goal is to have students involved as much as possible but there is plenty more to be done in this amazing outdoor space. Time commitment is as much or little as you'd like. A valid police check is required if you are there during school hours.
- First courtyard tidy up will be Tuesday, May 20 (May 21 if the weather is not cooporating)
Please email Carmen at chinoolparkschool.courtyard@gmail.com if you are interested in helping out later this month or on a regular basis.
